Our concept
01

Our concept

Casa Amalia was created with the vision of offering travelers a comfortable, safe, and affordable stay in an upscale neighborhood — within walking distance of the beach, close to restaurants, and just around the corner from the exclusive resorts of Jan Thiel. We transformed our villa into a 19-room guesthouse for visitors who appreciate quality and a homely atmosphere — a pleasant alternative to the traditional hotel experience. To keep our rates competitively priced, we have deliberately chosen a small-scale and efficient concept: no reception desk, no 24-hour staff, no room service, and no daily housekeeping. We do, however, rely on our guests being comfortable with a more independent style of stay, and we believe this approach not only helps us keep our rates affordable but also contributes to a more sustainable way of traveling with a smaller environmental footprint.

Our stairs

Our stairs

Please note: Casa Amalia sits above street level. Our facilities aren't designed to accommodate guests with mobility challenges, we are only accessible via a staircase of at least 18 steps.

Self check-in
03

Self check-in

We don't have a reception desk or concierge, you check in yourself. It's quick and easy. Guests who book directly receive check-in instructions from us. Guests booking through a third party should find them in their travel documents. EU privacy rules mean we don't get contact details from third-party bookings, so if you're one of those guests, message us directly.

Our coffee corner
04

Our coffee corner

A cosy outdoor coffee corner where guests can make their own coffee or tea with a Nespresso machine, a filter coffee, an electric kettle and a microwave. Bring your own favourite coffee or tea, or buy some at the local supermarket. We keep it outdoors on purpose: to keep tropical ants and cockroaches out of the rooms, and the space clean for everyone.

12 years and older

We welcome guests aged 12 and over.

Our world
06

Our world

We didn't inherit the earth from our fathers. We borrowed it from our children. Air conditioners use a lot of electricity and contain refrigerants with significant climate impact. Please be climate-friendly: turn off the AC when you're out, and keep all doors and shutters closed when it's running.

Housekeeping
07

Housekeeping

We offer a cleaning service once a week, usually Monday or Friday (between 8 am and noon) — except on public holidays. For fresh towels mid-week, swap your used ones with us in the morning on a weekday.

No smoking
08

No smoking

Casa Amalia is non-smoking! Smokers can use the ashtrays just outside our entrance. Smoking is NOT permitted inside the accommodations, in the courtyard, or on the gallery near the double-queen rooms — e-cigarettes included. Narcotics are illegal in Curaçao; if we find drugs in your room we will notify the police.
